Well History

Well Status Well Status Date Comment
Oil and Gas 2008-08-27 INSPECTED BY KEN PIISPANEN ON 8/18/2008. SITE IS A HOLE THAT IS APPROXIMATELY 18" BY 18" AT THE SURFACE AND OPENS TO 4' BY 4' BELOW. THE DEPTH OF THE HOLE WAS ABOUT 4 FEET TO WATER IN BOTTOM OF HOLE. NO VISIBLE OIL OR GAS. BORE HOLE AT CENTER OF HOLE THAT IS 6 TO 8" IN DIAMETER, BUT NO NOTICEABLE CASING. DEPTH OF HOLE COULD NOT BE MEASURED. SURFACE OF HOLE WILL LIKELY INCREASE IN SIZE AS THE SURFACE COLLASPES INTO THE LARGER HOLE BELOW. SAFETY CONCERN AND RECOMMEND COVERING HOLE WITH PLYWOOD.

1219156084 2008-08-18 Orphan No Violations Received call from landowner about sink hole in back yard. Inspection of site revealed a hole at surface of yard approximately 18x18. The hole below the surface however opened to approximately 4x4 in diameter. The depth of the hole was approximately 4 feet to water in the bottom of the hole. There was no visible oil or gas in the water. Using a rake handle, the bottom of the hole was probed. The ground below water funneled to the center of the hole where a bore hole was noted. There was no noticeable casing but there was a distinct borehole 6-8 inches in diameter with depth greater than the rake handle. It appears as though the surface of the hole will continue to increase in size as the surface collapses into the larger hole below.
1232031231 2009-01-13 Orphan No Violations Clearwater Drilling drove 24 feet of 10 inch PVC pipe into borehole opening. Dave Barndt said there was no resistence until this depth and thought that the pipe may be to bedrock. The sinkhole that opened in the yard has been backfilled with dirt. A cap will be placed on the 10 inch PVC. Noted water at approximately 3 feet below ground elevation in pipe. No sign of oil or gas. Records indicate that well 34-173-20327-0000 is located approximately 50 feet from the borehole where the sinkhole formed. The well was plugged on 6/10/81. It is possible that the borehole in the yard is from a lost hole and no well was drilled at that location. This possibility is further supported by the fact there was no casing found with the borehole nor any signs of oil or gas. The well remains on the I&O program.
1238612728 2009-04-01 Orphan No Violations No cap placed on PVC pipe. Dirt fill has settled and will require additional soil. Water noted inside PVC pipe approximately 3-4 feet below ground. No signs of oil or gas.
1924450682 2013-08-01 Orphan No Violations An inspection revealed a 10.187 outside diameter PVC pipe at 16 above ground level, a fluid level 3 down from top of pipe and no observed leakage of oil or gas bubbling. The total depth for this wellbore measured 20 with a depth meter, weight and braided line. The bottom of the wellbore felt soft and did not resemble concrete. Note: Initially, Mr. Meyers had thought well had been cemented by previous contractor. A gas meter equipped with an automatic pump, probe and filter was utilized to monitor the wellbore. Natural gas was not smelled during the inspection. The gas meter showed .05 CH4 inside the wellbore and a LEL equal to 2 that would quickly dissipate and never show again. The meter was also placed on the ground surface and within 5 from the wellbore and would show an LEL= 2. The well was situated within a residential subdivision and behind the house located at 1457 Cobblestone Lane, Bowling Green, OH. Mr. & Mrs. Meyers indicated that prior to the construction of this house, an old well was discovered by the now neighboring property owners. As a result, they elected not to build and sold property to the Meyers. The approximate location of well is next to garage underneath landscaping and could have been Permit No. 327. There were no signs of leakage at this time. The subject wellbore with PVC could have been a lost hole or water well associated with Permit No. 327. Note: The current landowners are planning to sell the property this year.
