Upon arrival, found oil being sucked up from the dike area, looks like 10 to maybe 15 bbl has run out when tank ran over, think they have recovered 7 bbl this day and remaining oil still in dike area and ran downhill, over top of dike, downhill about 200 in a path about 1 wide. Have dug a hole at bottom of spill, anticipating rain tonight but cant get a truck down there to empty it and will have to carry oil back up in buckets. Have not figured out what caused the spill, well have been pumping for unknown time between last Thursday and this day - landowner gets free gas and I suspect he had turned well on to bring more gas to his house. Someone had turned well off (timer is still working correctly) but did not call company to tell them of spill. Will continue to monitor. |
