I removed the pipe to inspect the well and found what appeared to be surface casing at the surface. The was what appeared to be 5.5 inch diameter casing with a swage to 2 inch diameter. The casing and swage were to rusty to measure or even see if there was a valve on the swage. Water was seen leaking out of the surface casing. There was a scald area approximately 5 feet by 14 feet. The scald area was covered in deer tracks. The original violations for pollution and contamination and lack of a legible identification have not been resolved. At 11:24 AM I called the phone number listed for contact and found that number has been disconnected. |

Low concentration Quantab (30-600ppm) measurement was above 600 ppm but confirmed chloride containing fluid was coming from the well head. According to 1501:9-9-05(A)1/1509:20 the well is insufficiently equipped to prevent the escape of gas and brine is contaminating the ground surface. Repairs must be implemented to mitigate this problem. Well must be sufficiently equipped to prevent pollution and contamination. All contaminated soil must be removed and disposed of properly. The scald area impacted by brine shall be seeded and mulched and steps shall be taken to encourage vegetative growth, There is no tank battery associated with this well. |
