They planned on completing the clean-up as soon as weather permitted. We agreed that now was a good time. |

The leak was reported to EPA by the Garrettsville Fire Chief. The adjoining property is owned by Gary Cochran (330-398-1028). The release occurred sometime during the night of 12/29 and resulted in a gas odor complaint to the fire department. The leak was not located until the morning. The spill included natural gas and crude oil (approximately 3 or 4 bbl). The oil impacted an area approximately 100 long x 20 wide directly west of the pipeline. Great Lakes, W. Pol Contracting and Spencer Water Service personnel were on site to contain and remediate the spill. The impacted soil and vegetation were removed and transported to a staging area established at Great Lakes facility on SR 44. The ultimate disposal location will be the Petrocell facility in Lodi. This is the third failure on this section of pipeline in the past two years. After the second leak, Great Lakes told me that the line would be incerted with plastic. It was not. The system was ordered shut in until the sales line was replaced and witnessed. |
