0613238970 2017-07-12 Orphan No Violations I was on location to gather data with Orphan Well Inspector Kevin Perry and complete the Orphan Well paperwork for submission. The site was reviewed and photographed and the water well at the landowners house was located. It was unknown at this time if there was a septic tank or leach bed that would present access issues. I will submit the completed paperwork.
1309698074 2017-07-11 Orphan No Violations Follow-up to Complaint #5648 received on 7/10/2017 concerning a possible orphan well. I met with the landowner, Mitchell Dailey, and inspected the area. The inspection found approximately two (2) feet of 8.625 casing above ground level. A one (1) foot piece of 6.5 inch pipe was welded on top of the 8.625 casing and was fitted with a threaded cap. The 8.625 casing had a two (2) inch port line and was plumbed with a two (2) inch ball valve. A one (1) inch line was connected to the ball valve and was plumbed with a regulator. There was a pumping rod marking the well location and the area around the wellhead was scattered with old, 4.5 casing collars. The landowner opened the valve and there was an obvious sound of pressure relief from the casing and a faint smell of gas. One (1) minute later the valve was opened and the pressure relief was noticed again indicating a recovery of the pressure. Division records indicate that the well was plugged and abandoned on 12/27/1978 and Final Restoration was approved on 3/2/2000 by a Division Inspector. Research indicates that the original owner of the well is no longer in business and I will begin paperwork to place the well in the Orphan Well Program.
