The company is removing all contaminated soil with in the dike and is hauling to an approved landfill. The water way will be flushed again and remove all oils out of the containment. Will check back later.
1375717652 2013-08-04 Production Wells No Violations I was called out by Trevor Irwin on a crude oil spill. The 300 barrel tank had been pulled down about 79 barrels of crude and drip. There was a 2valve leaking because of tank settling and the dike was not leak proof. The oil went to two corners of the dike and went into the ground and then followed down by culvert and traveled about 150 yards and met Kent creek. Once the crude hit Kent creek it traveled down about .5 mile. OEPA, Oil and Gas and Artex were laying out containment. Property owner was Karen Blackstone and she let the company go on property to set Coffer dams. They then purged the affected area on her property. Artex then was using leaf blowers and was cleaning hydrocarbons off of the side of Kent creek banks. The solid containment was at coordinates 39.86093,-81.84535.

1805923921 2013-08-15 Production Wells No Violations On the date of the 8-15-13 Artex, OEPA, Karen Blackstone and ODNR looked at the area affected and clean up. There were a few trees in area that will need cut out. The ground around the dike has been hauled out and clay was hauled in and the dike is now liquid tight. All ground on the other side of the culvert which is the Blackstone stone side was purged and no petroleum was left. Straw was then placed along the affected area. Karen asked about the black mud and OEPA Stated that it was decaying plant life. We all then walked down to the creek and all boomers were removed and the minnows were swimming around. No petroleum was detected at all. I myself lifted rocks and there was no Petroleum detected. We all walked up toward the house and Artex would test the water well and OEPA and ODNR were satisfied at this time all that was requested was the haul tickets from water and soil. Compliance Notice was now resolved.
