1302089177 2011-04-05 Plug / Plug Back No Violations Called out this day for gas bubbling out of ground, near pond, and landowner, Cecil Snow wondering what it is. Found the location of an old plugged well, plugged in 1986 with ground having a dead spot 2 x 3 and gas bubbling up from much of the area. Well located about 22 , uphill from pond. Dug down and did not find any casing but did find debris, chunks of cement, ground had been disturbed. Collected evidence to replug well as an orphan well, then further research discovered company is still an operator with no insurance and a suspended bond. Put in call to company, left information on the well and as far no one has called back. No sign of H2S and landowner would like well plugged when drier, preferably in August. Told them it would take that long to get it in the orphan well program. Hopefully, can get Wallick to re-plug. 4/6 - Talked to Mick McC. - he was going to do some checking and see who would need to come and re-plug well. 4/8/11 - Still no return call from operator. Waiting on Mike McC. To tell me next step.
1310050423 2011-04-05 Plug / Plug Back No Violations Called out this day for gas bubbling out of ground, near pond, and landowner Cecil Snow wondering what it is. Found the location of an old well plugged in 1986 with ground having dead spot 2 x 3 and gas bubbling up from much of the area. Well located about 22 uphill from large farm pond. Dug down and did not find casing but did find debris - chunks of cement, ground obviously had been disturbed. Collected evidence to replug well as an orphan, then further research showed owner - Wallick Petroleum - is still an operator with no insurance and a suspended bond. Put in call to company, left information on the well and so far, no one has called back. No sign of H2S - landowner would like well plugged when drier, preferably in August thru Oct. Told them it would take that long to get it in the orphan well program. Hopefully, can get Wallick to re-plug. 4/6 - Talked to Mike McCormac - was going to check to see who would be responsible to re-plug well. 4/8 - Still no return call from operator. Waiting on Mike McCormac to tell me next step. Will prepare orphan package.
1368709792 2013-05-15 Orphan No Violations A field examination of this well found it dried up and not leaking - no obvious odor or gas bubbling from the ground. Surrounding ground still wet and swampy but appears the well has quit leaking, at least at this time. Talked to the landowner, Cecil Snow and he said he has been monitoring it - agreed that not leaking now but not ready to sign off and withdraw it from Orphan program. He will let us know if again leaking.
1454319340 2011-07-06 Plug / Plug Back No Violations Re-inspect this day to observe details, extent of leaking gas from plugged well on property. Water hole around well had dried up but could definitely hear gas bubbling out of ground - no odor. Reviewed way into well, other information needed to complete I/O. Ground around pond still very wet, soft and this is only way into well.
1464704086 2016-05-24 Orphan No Violations Today, I found this old plugged well not showing the wet spot on the ground as previously but a dead spot where grass should grow, indicating the well is still leaking. The access road to the well is still very wet and soft which the landowner says will not improve until late summer or fall. Mr. Snow said he would rather us access the well from the north side of the pond as the south side access requires driving on the pond dam. More pictures taken.
