The bubbles appeared to be coming from in between the 8 inch surface casing and the 11 inch minestring. Upon speaking to driller, he let me know the gas had been escaping in small amounts for sometime now. They have been dressing bits in close proximity to well with no build up of explosive gases noticed. It appears the rate of gas escaping is related to changes in atmospheric pressures. I consulted with senior inspectors and it was determined no immediate threat was present. Air samples will be taken and sent to the lab in Cambridge, and Mine Safety Inspector of DMRM will be on site with a more precise gas meter to determine if escaping gas is likely to be escaping from mine. |
