1273328973 | 2014-06-09 | Production Wells | No Violations | Inspected production well on 06/09/2014. The tank battery consists of 2-100 bbl steel tanks located within an earthen dike. A small leak was noted at the outtake valve from the second tank; the leak is contained to the area immediately underneath the valve. The tank battery is utilizing by multiple wells; identification is clearly displayed for all wells utilizing it. The well is equipped with a pump jack with an electric motor. An old electric motor and several joints of tubing were laying alongside the pump jack. Well identification is posted at the wellhead. Shorts Drilling was notified of the issue at the tank battery and will address it as soon as possible. No other problems were noted at the time of the inspection. |

1366744306 | 2013-04-23 | Production Wells | No Violations | I inspected this well and found one small electric powered pump jack on the wellhead. There were no gauges installed on the tubing or on the casing so I could not determine the pressure on either. I did notice that there was a small amount of crude leaking from the top of the tubing as the polished rod was operating up and down. The crude was then dripping down the wellhead and accumulating on the ground at the base of the wellhead. There were several joints of 1.5 in. tubing and several sucker rod sections laying on the ground near the wellhead. The tank battery contained two 100 bbl. steel oil storage tanks and no other production equipment. The flowline leading into the top of the storage tank was encased in a custom made wooden enclosure and filled with insulation and connected to an electric line heater. The proper identification sign was posted on one of the storage tanks. No leaks were seen on the storage tanks or on the flowline piping and the area within and around the tank battery was well maintained. The dike was in good shape and there was a yellow nylon rope attached to steel posts and strung around the perimeter of the dike to prevent unauthorized access to the tanks. I contacted Ralph Shorts of Shorts Drilling and advised him of the leaking wellhead issue. Ralph informed me that he will get out to the well in the next day or two and correct the problem and soak up the spilled crude oil at the base of the wellhead. |
