0339796350 | 2012-09-05 | Orphan | No Violations | Received call from Mr. Virgil McKnight at 9:01 am allegeing that he had gas bubbling out of the creek. He thought that it was due to the orphan well on his property. I called Cyndi VanDyke Idle and Orphan inspector 3 for the south region at 9:14 am. She instructed me to investigate the issue. Arrived on site at 10:43 am, inspected the area and found no evidence of bubbling gas. I had my gas detector clipped to my pocket, and it didnt detect any gas. I noticed a large amount of deer tracks on the shore of the creek so I used a low range quantab in a small puddle formed by a deer track. It registered 1.2 which translates to 33 parts per million chloride. This is well below the EPA maximum allowable amount which is 250 parts per million. Mr. McKnight showed me where he had observed the bubbling, and it wasnt bubbling anymore. I told Mr. McKnight to call me immediately if he should observe it happening again. I checked the well with the gas detector again and it registered .20 CH4 (methane) and 8 LEL (Lower Explosive Limit). I had the gas detector 6 from the ground. I called Cyndi VanDyke after my inspection and told her of my findings. |
0346820578 | 2013-05-15 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | I met Brent Bear and Gene Chini at the well site. The well is still leaking gas. We met with Virgil Mc Night to inform him of the option of leaving the well in the idle orphan program or having someone produce the well. |

1019394500 | 2013-05-15 | Orphan | No Violations | A follow-up inspection was conducted with the landowner, Mr. Virgil McKnight, Mr. Gene Chini, Orphan Well Program Supervisor, and Hocking County Oil & Gas Inspector, Mr.Kip Thompson. During the inspection, a casing caliper was utilized to confirm the outside diameter of steel casings. The well consisted of only 10.5 diameter drive pipe and a section of 1.5 diameter tubing equipped with a valve and threaded cap. It was noted that the well was leaking gas below the valve and around a fitting on the section of 1.5 diameter tubing. A gas meter was utilized for this inspection and showed an LEL=4 and CH4= 0.05. Below the 1.5 diameter tubing and on the inside of the 10.5 diameter drive pipe, standing water was observed on top of an unknown hard surface. An inspection of Sunday Creek revealed no visual impact at this time. |

1307083473 | 2016-08-23 | Orphan | No Violations | Orphan well status inspection: Upon inspection, it is observed that this well is still idle and orphan. A small hunting cabin has been placed in between the well and Monday Creek. The cabin sits less than 2 away from the well. The well is covered with a truck rim with soil packed in around it. A small portion of 1 tubing sticking up 2 above ground level is all that is exposed of the well. There is a bull plug threaded into the 1 tubing. The well is not currently leaking oil, gas, or brine. New photos were taken of the well location. |

1503389662 | 2012-04-30 | Orphan | No Violations | Well has been plugged by B.H. Mills company in 1966. I was accompanied by landowner Mr. Virgil McKnight. When I arrived on site, the only thing visible was a valve with a plug in the top of it. I dug around it and found 10 inch casing with a plate welded inside the collar which was what the valve was threaded into. When I set my Sperian PHD 6 gas detector on the ground close to the casing, it registered LEL levels of up to 14. When the landowner cracked the valve open the gas meter was set off indicating the presence of gas coming out of the casing. The well is located 30 feet from Monday Creek. |
