1285526937 2015-11-24 Orphan No Violations Site visit and meet with landowner. After reviewing the site, I met with the adjacent neighbors to the west, and obtained a Right of Entry Release from them so as to facilitate the vaulting and venting of this well.
1399573742 2014-04-04 Orphan No Violations I inspected the location pursuant to a request of the current homeowner. They indicated that they have smelled gas for many years and noticed a dead spot in the back yard. They contacted RA Gibson & Associates to make an evaluation. Ron Gibson exposed the well by hand digging in the area of the dead spot. He revealed a 10-inch diameter open steel casing. The casing was cut off approximately 24 inches below existing grade. Water had in-filled the open casing, and gas was seen to be bubbling from the water. Gas levels were measured and found to range from 0 to 10% LEL near the casing top, but not detected in the area where observers were standing. At the request of the landowners, Gibson excavated around the casing and placed a 12-inch diameter black corrugated pipe and affixed a lid, as a temporary protective measure. The landowners expressed an interest in having the well plugged and abandoned, or possibly vaulted and vented if plugging is not possible. Access to the well location with service equipment may not be possible owing to the tight location, other houses, properties etc. I advised that I would assist them with evaluating options for safe management.

1723253845 2017-08-22 Orphan No Violations On location today to meet with landowner and discuss potential damages to landscaping and future location of vent line. Jason Simmerman on site as well. Necessary measurements were taken, and landowner will submit her drawing with the individual plants/trees identified.
1733386377 2015-10-15 Orphan No Violations Field review of location. Located well in backyard. Spoke with landowner(s) and apprised them as to the progress of their case. Confirmed GPS coordinates and collected 4 more photographs.
1740665000 2015-10-05 Orphan No Violations I inspected this well location as an evaluation of the current site conditions and well status. The well is located behind a residential property in a densesly developed area along the bluffs of Lake Erie. The well is located in the middle of the back yard, which fronts Lake Erie on the north side. The well had previously discovered following the continual observation of a dead spot in the yard, and gas odors. The property owners contracted with R. A. Gibson to perform a limited excavation to expose the suspected well. At that time, an open well casing was discovered and observed to be leaking gas. RA Gibson constructed a protective vault using a 12-inch plastic, corrugated drain pipe with a pre-fabricated metel lid. At the time of this inspection, the vault and lid are secure. I observed gas odor and meter readings >50% LEL near the vault opening. Gas readings dropped to non-detectable within several feet. Outside of the vault structure, I did not observe any signs of impact. Access to the well with a service rig will likely require access to the neighboring property.
