Inspection Data

Inspections Performed

Inspection ID Inspection Date Inspection Type Inspection Result Inspection Comments
1430934430 2015-05-06 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection H&D Drilling was moving in and rigging up to plug the well. They were pulling rods and tubing. The landowner showed up to try to negotiate purchasing the well for domestic use.
1538585965 2018-10-03 Production Wells No Violations I was contacted by Ron Woodall to request an inspection on a well that he is considering buying for domestic use. On the day of my inspection I met Mr. Woodall at his home and we went back to the well site together. I found that the well was equipped with 5.5 inch diameter casing that was capped with a steel fitting that had two one inch diameter nipples. There was only one inch of the casing visible above ground, everything else was buried. There was a valve and domestic gas line on one nipple, and a valve with a gauge fitting on the other. Ron claimed that the well is leaking gas around the threads and it has been leaking gas throughout the time he has lived there. I did not hear the gas leaking, but I could smell it. Ron sprayed the top of the casing with soapy water and there was quite a bit of bubbling. There were no signs of fluid leaking from the well and there were no signs of stressed vegetation around the well casing. Ron put his gauge on the fitting and opened the valve. The pressure went up to 220 pounds. There were no tanks for the well and it was not set up to allow for swabbing the fluid off. The only production reports ever filed are from 2012 to 2017, and they show zero gas or oil production for all reported years. Ron said that he has been using the gas off the well to heat his home. Mr. Woodall showed me a letter that he had received from H&D Drilling requesting that he pay them for the well or the Division of Oil and Gas was going to plug it. I assured him that I have not issued a compliance notice to plug the well, and the Division of Oil and Gas does not go out and plug wells with known owners. I also advised him to request that the top collar be replaced on the 5.5 inch casing to remedy the gas leak if he decides to go through with taking ownership of the well.
