| 1472752133 | 2016-04-18 | Orphan | No Violations | Todays inspection was conducted to check the condition of the Orphan Well on the Robert and Phillip Braff Trust property. This is a follow up on Orphan Well Complaint #1999 04 12 turned in by the Braffs. This well has been affiliated with permit #6-0337 but the GPS coordinates and physical location on the Divisions well locator show that it is very near permit #6-0261. The well is located in a heavily vegetated and wooded area approximately 125 behind a rental house at 4335 North Ridge Road that is on a different parcel but is also owned by Braffs. The well is equipped with 10.85 diameter steel casing. A 12 diameter collar, 7 in height, is on the open 10.85 casing. The casing and collar extend 13 above ground level. A 12 square piece of steel is lying on top of the casing and is easily removed. There is no other visible tubing or casing. Water is in the casing, approximately 5 below ground level. Gas is bubbling through the water and a ball is floating on the water. My Sperian Gas Scope detected 25% LEL/0 PPM H2S directly above the well casing. The gas scope was turned off to preserve the sensor. The OFG map shows a plugged Oriskany or Newburg well in this area that is 1668 deep. |

Gas is still bubbling through the water in the casing. The water level is approximately 4 feet below ground level. This well was assigned permit number 6-0337 in 2007. It appears to be 6-0261 on the DOGRM well locator using current GPS coordinates and the address of the house, 4335 North Ridge Road, Ashtabula, which is located south of the well. The OFG map shows this is a plugged Oriskany well. |
