I’m an award-winning freelance journalist who has covered everything from archaeology to cosmology. For the past several years I’ve focused on climate and energy issues, writing for Scientific American, National Geographic News, Science, Economist.com, the San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications.

In 2008-09, I was a Middlebury Fellow in Environmental Journalism, doing on-the-ground reporting from Bangladesh about efforts to adapt to climate change—and my work won the 2010 IUCN-Reuters Media Award for Excellence in Environmental Reporting for the top story published in North America.

I've also launched a new data journalism project, The Frack Lab, drawing on data gathered from state agencies on tens of thousands of fracked wells: http://www.beaconreader.com/projects/the-frack-lab

My articles on WellWiki are listed on my page in the "Featured Contributors" section.
