The well is located in West Finley Twp., Washington Co. The inspection was related to release of mercaptan at the well site.

The operator plans to begin plugging and reclamation of the well site. The operator purchased the well from Jesmar in 2011 and produced the well for approximately 6 months. The well has been inactive since 2012. The Department records continue to have the operator as Jesmar. The Department spoke with Robert Robinson the owner of Robin Energy, about the release. Mr. Robinson stated that during removal of production equipment from the site a mercaptan tank was encountered buried on the northeast corner of the well pad. During removal and placement of the tank on the trailer on site the tank released approximately 2 gallons of mercaptan to the trailer and ground. The operator used bleach to oxidize the the mercaptan in the soil and on the trailer and has encased the mercaptan tank in p

During removal of the tank approximately 2 gallons of mercaptan was released to the trailer and ground. The operator used bleach to oxidize the the mercaptan in the soil and on the trailer and has encased the mercaptan tank in plastic for disposal. The tank is being stored at the Blum 1 CBM well. A small storage box has ben brought to the site to store impacted material for disposal. The operator has contracted with Enviroserv to characterize the impacted soil for disposal and to remediate the release.
