Well was cleaned out to a depth of 310' where we encountered cement. Coal determination placed the Pittsburgh coal at about 260'. There is no record of what appears to be a previous plugging job at 310 feet and therefore we cannot determine if the well was properly addressed at the oil and gas bearing formations. We set a 50 foot plug of cement at this point and then placed 50' of pea gravel in the annular. 4 1/2" pipe was run to top of gravel and then pea gravel was placed on the backside of the 4 1/2" to surface. The 10 3/4" surface casing was swedged back to the 4 1/2" and a vent stack of 8 feet was installed. This well is located in a housing development within 40 feet of two homes. Area has been mined and with the potential of stray gas becoming a factor in the future it was determined to allow this well to be constructed in a manner that would alleviate that problem if it ever occurred. |
