The operator was using a square fabricated tank to re-circulate frac fluid from the pit for reuse. The inlet opening was not large enough for the volume of flow and allowed frac water to flow down the side of the tank. Frac fluid infiltrated through the fill material in the access road and flowed out the bottom of the slope covering and area approximately 50ft X 20 ft and approximately one inch deep.Water sample results received on 7/6/15 showed a specific conductivity of 1254 umhos/cm,a sodium concentration of 196 mg/l and a pH of 4.8. The chloride concentration was not available at the time of this report. violations were noted. |

The operator sampled for Chlorides and Specific Conductivity in the area where the spill occurred as well as a control area. The analysis did not show a need for additional remediation. Please note that the spill policy was not enacted in this instance and that the analysis would not have been acceptable for an Act 2 clean up.
