2768698 | Primary Facility | 2018-08-28 | Preoperation Inspection | No Violations Noted | This is an inspection performed for a Good Samaritan inspection of a well neat the East Branch Tionesta Creek on the Lot 389 lease.
The area near the well is relatively flat, but the well sits within 10 feet of the stream and appears to be flowing water. The well location is covered with grasses, goldenrod and small trees. There is a wet area near the base of the hill that will need to be traversed with logs or some sort of stable base. No issues are noted with the application or location. |
2779912 | Primary Facility | 2018-09-26 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | This is an abandoned well that I put on the DEP abandoned well list a few months ago so that the current land owner could plug the well under the good samaritan program before the well is in the creek due to natural watercourse changes.
The contractors that is going to plug the well is Chip McCracken a well established operator and contractor for plugging wells in this area. The access road has been built with the advisement of the Allegheny National forest Mike Lewis and WQS Jason English DEP. They have installed matting ( as seen in picture) across a swampy area for access. The well is currently flowing artesian and gassing. |
2798980 | Primary Facility | 2018-11-06 | Plugging(Includes Plugged/Mined Through) | No Violations Noted | This well is being plugged under the Good Samaritan plugging program. They have a BOP on the well and they built a small separator so if they take a kick they can control the flow from the well and pump it into tanks they have on site. They are currently at 510' drilling on a bridge. The casing for the well is laying on the ground next to the well. They ran a camera into the well to see if the gas was coming from below the casing seat or above and said it is leaking through the plug at the casing seat and is not coming in from the water table. They have done a nice job of taking precautions to prevent any spills into the Tionesta Creek and installed 2 booms across the creek as an added precaution. |
2803805 | Primary Facility | 2018-11-15 | Plugging(Includes Plugged/Mined Through) | No Violations Noted | I approved an attainable bottom on this well. They are currently at 1580' deep with the anticipated TD of 1650' to 1700' deep. They hit a bridge in the well at 1557' and it was drilling like it was a cement plug. When they drilled out the last plug it unloaded a lot of oil for several hours and it was contained on site. The well is still flowing artesian into a separator. They set a wire line plug at 1567' and are running tubing at this time to set cement on top of it. They plan to run a rag packer to stop the artesian flow.
The first plug will be from 1557' to 1240' (317') then a gel spacer and the 2nd plug will go from 1175' to 1040' (135')then gel up to the casing seat plug and set a 50' plug from 550' to 500'. |
