The well is located in a partially wooded area. A strong hydrocarbon odor is noted in the area immediately around the well and gas can be heard escaping from the production piping. The wellhead and piping is exhibiting signs of some surface rust. The gas appears to be leaking from 2-inch pipe fitting adjacent to the wellhead. The Department collected gas readings near the well using an Altair 5X meter. LEL = 0 - 79%, CO = 1, Methane = 49%, 02 = 20.8 %, H2S = 0 %. The Department contacted the operator on 8/4/2016 requesting the immediate repair of the leak and ensure that the well is properly identified. Operator stated leak will be repaired.
