On 12/6/18, a tank truck picking up brine overflowed, causing an unknown amount of brine to spill to the ground at the access road, under the pick-up line (photo 1), and flow through a snow covered lawn area (photo 4), eventually pooling near a driveway culvert, approximately 315 feet to the north.

This incident will be referred to the Bureau of Solid Waste.

2813600 Primary Facility 2018-12-10 Follow-up Inspection Outstanding Violations - Viols Req'd Follow-up inspection to incident inspection on 12/7/18. Previous inspection comments included below for reference. On 12/7/18, the operator contracted Environmental Remediation and Recovery (Edinboro, PA) to excavate contaminated topsoil at the spill site. The top few inches of topsoil have been collected and covered on a plastic liner (photo 1). WQS checked several areas throughout the spill site with a field EC meter. Contractor is continuing to remove more soil near the driveway culvert (photos 2 and 3).



12/7/18 comments: Incident inspection in response to operator-reported spill at Bender 1 well (photo 2). On 12/6/18, a tank truck picking up brine overflowed, causing an unknown amount of brine to spill to the ground at the access road, under the pick-up line (photo 1), and flow through a snow covered lawn area (photo 4), eventually pooling near a driveway culvert, approximately 315 feet to the north.

2821671 Primary Facility 2019-01-03 Follow-up Inspection Outstanding Violations - Viols Req'd Second follow-up inspection to incident inspection on 12/7/18. Operator contracted Environmental Remediation and Recovery (Edinboro, PA) to excavate contaminated soil at the spill site. Contaminated soil has been removed from the site and access road (photos 1&2). Access road has road millings added to replace removed contaminated material. Compost sock is installed, awaiting completion of cleanup, replacement of topsoil, seed and mulch.
