Clinton County. The Department’s Oil & Gas well mapping tool shows the wells as being near in the woods near an open field at the end of School House lane off Keating Mountain road, but since the wells aren’t exceptionally old I believed to wells to be in the middle of the field. I drove down School House lane (private road) at approx. 1:00 pm. to the very end and in the middle of the field I was able to identify a well (not labeled) with a metal bucket on top. All that came above ground level was what looked like an 8 5/8”x 2” casing swage with a 2” ball valve on top. The ball valve was bull plugged but the plug had about a 1/8” hole drilled in it. I did not smell any gas and did not detect anything with an Altair 5x gas meter. The landowner came driving down to the field at that time; I believe he said his name was John Newfield.
