0618815806 | 2018-03-29 | Production Wells | No Violations | I was contacted by Rob McMasters the Coshocton County EMA Director to report a call about a gas leak. Rob said that there was no emergency, that there was some gas bubbling from the ground near a pumping unit. He said that they did not know who to call because there was no identification on the tanks. Rob described the location of the well and I found it on my Topo 9 map. I told him that it was owned by Bakerwell and I gave him their number. I told Rob that I could come out if they could not reach the company. I never heard back. I followed up the next morning and found that the pumper Tim Arnold was contacted and he found a small gas leak in the sales line, approximately 30 feet from the pumping unit for this well. Tim said that he tried to use a shovel to expose the line which was buried 4 feet deep and found that he would need a mini hoe to get down to the line leak. I called Rex Baker and he said that they had a crew in route with a mini hoe to dig the line up and repair it. The well was equipped with a natural gas powered pumping unit. The production equipment consisted of one 100 barrel steel tank, one vertical separator and an underground concrete brine vault in a shallow earthen dike. There was a small amount of gas bubbling in the rainwater that had collected on the surface. The leak was in the gas sales line, so I found no oil in the soil that Tim had dug up. There was no identification on the tank so I asked Rex and Tim to get it posted. I will follow up with Rob McMasters once the crew is finished with the repair. |
