There are no signs of appreciable activity at the well site itself since the previous inspection. The cause of this spill had not yet been confirmed, the injection well remains shut in.
2675317 Primary Facility 2017-12-26 Joint External Site Inspection No Violations Noted Accompanied WQS Ayers and WQS supervisor Sheriff, along with Dave Rectenwald from EPA to assess the site cleanup and try to determine a cause of the crude oil spill which occurred several days ago. Upon inspection of the wellhead it was discovered that a section of the 1" injection line had been removed from the wellhead. Two company reps from Red Jacket arrived on site during the inspection and still had the section of injection line in their possession. They had determined that the leak had come from the packing of a gate valve on the injection line. The well will be shut in until spring when repairs can be made.
