Coal Co. GH38 CBM well located in Center Township, Greene County. The release had occurred in the late afternoon and was reported to the Department on Thursday, November 2, 2017. On Friday morning, I spoke with Mr. Spencer Johnson from Consol Energy-CNX Gas, who made the notification, about the details of the release and the remediation. Later Friday morning, I conducted a site visit to assess the situation and confirm information.
It was reported that approximately 20 gallons of brine water was released from the valve while performing repairs. While backing a plug out of the line, the damaged valve disconnected and began to release fluid. The release of fluid was stopped and another valve was attached to control the release of fluid to dewater the line for off-site disposal.
