3018432 Primary Facility 2018-10-03 Complaint Inspection No Violations Noted Met Rich Freese and representatives from Peoples Gas and JASE Construction Services at site to evaluate this stray gas situation. Hole in ground with gas bubbling was discovered during inspection of storm retention pond by JASE. Hole was enlarged to diameter of two feet after discovery. Hole filled with water and was gassing vigorously. Hole situated 70-80 feet behind house at bottom of steep bank of retention pond. Probing deeper into hole did not reveal well bore or casing. Ran metal detector over hole and did get high readings. Rich Freese made numerous slam bar holes in adjacent yards and got all 0% methane readings using Altair 5 meter. Peoples Gas rep checked neighboring home for gas in ambient air - found none. JASE rep was requested to place caution fencing around general area and distribute a flier to residents advising them to install methane detectors in their homes. I called Oil Valley Well Service per Scott Sabocheck's request to schedule a time for them to look at site and give estimates on excavation and venting options. Karen at South Park Township called and asked to be updated regularly on DEP plans and actions. Note: Old mapping of this area shows a gas well nearby.
