The well, drilled in 1944, has recently changed ownership from Columbia Gas to American. Mrs. Motter is still receiving a royalty of $100 per year but has not been getting free gas since the mid-1980s and the family did not know why. I suggested that they get a copy of the original lease from Canton and contact American about hooking up the house gas again. The documents that they did have indicate that M/M Motter agreed to the royalty amount instead in lieu of the operator plugging the well in 1954. I also advised that there may be legal issues and that they should consider contacting an atty. with oil and gas experience. |
| 1160582303 | 2006-10-10 | Production Wells | Violations Noted | 10-5-06 I received a call from Maria DiGiroloma (office 330-452-6400 ext. 18, cell # 330-904-7645) regarding an idle well on a property owned (purchased in February 2006) by her parents, Frank and Cherie Dugan. Inspector Bob Worstall had met with Marias brother, Anthony Dugan, last year at the well site on 7-6-2005. I inspected the site on 10-10-2006. The well was drilled in 1944. The last reported production was in 2003, at 551 MCF. Zero production was reported in 2004 and 2005. The well is a swab well with an associated 26 bbl plastic production/brine tank near the wellhead. There are 2 Gatherco pipeline markers in the immediate vicinity. The Dugans have contacted Robert Keffer (724-627-0588) at American Oil & Gas in Waynesburg, PA., regarding the status of the well, and have requested to terminate the lease or renegotiate an equitable agreement. They have returned a $100.00 royalty check payable to Dorothea A. Motter, the previous owner. Since the well has not produced in 2004 and 2005, it is considered idle and is in violation. Plug the well or produce the well and post a new I.D. sign at the wellhead. I called Robert Keffer on 10-11-2006 and left a message regarding the Notice of Violation. |
