1362146678 | 2013-02-13 | Administrative Inspection | No Violations | I was on location to perform a shale pre-site inspection at the request of ALL Consulting. I met with Damian Zampogna & Kris Andersen (ALL Consulting) and Raymond Kline (landowner) to review the site. This pad was constructed by Chesapeake Energy in 2012. There is a locked gate at the entrance where a 100 culvert and apron have been constructed. The road is constructed of limestone and the entire pad is fenced and locked. The pad is bermed and is ditched around the perimeter for drainage. The ditches drain the pad to buried catchments on the north and east sides of the location and are equipped with Weir gates to control the release of ponded water. An escarpment of Sharon Sandstone is located west of the pad and is discharging iron saturated water. The iron is oxidizing out of solution into a red stain. This water was tested in May of 2012 by Chesapeake and was not a contaminant or hazard. The water is being collected in a limestone catchment to remediate the iron before it enters the drainage ditch. This well will be drilled as a stratigraphic test. The pad is approximately 470 x 320 in dimension. A closed volume mud system will be used in lieu of earthen pits. Compost filter socks have been installed around the east and north sides of the pad and along the north side of the access road to prevent off-site erosion. This pad has been properly constructed. |
