1497987034 2017-06-20 Production Wells No Violations Complaint #5632: I received a phone call from the landowner Jeff Kavali on 6/20/17 concerning a possible pollution and contamination issue at this location. He told me that the flow line from the well was excavated and repaired and that the contaminated soil may have been buried after the repair. My inspection today found an 8 x 15 area surrounded by safety fencing that was recently excavated approximately 300 due south of the wellhead. There were several small stained areas in and outside the fenced area and a faint hydrocarbon odor was noticeable. I turned over several scoops of dirt 3-4 deep and detected a faint odor of hydrocarbons. The dirt was very hard at this time and I could not determine if the odor was residual or leaching from buried contaminant. I spoke with Tim Cosma and he told me that they had a line blockage about a month ago and were working on removing the blockage and the line blew out at this point. He told me the line is 2, SDR-7, and the bad section was cut out and fused back together. He said at the time of the line rupture it was raining heavily and everything was mud while excavating. I spoke with Emergency Operations Coordinator Terry Whitehair and he recommended to monitor the location for any signs of contamination following rain events. I will continue to monitor the location.
