0924069392 2015-12-08 Orphan No Violations I returned to this well to do another inspection on it. Inspector Cindy Vandyke has this well in the idle orphan program because of a complaint about it leaking. I did not find the well while I was out there. It is under ground per the last inspection. The well is in the idle orphan program though.
1429118152 2015-04-15 Final Restoration No Violations I received a call from Joe Schnieder of Artex Oil and Gas, who stated that Dave Dingey of AEP had called and said there was a well in a campground that was leaking gas. He stated that the gas has been ingnited by campsite visitors a couple of times in the spring almost every year. I spoke with Dave and he stated they had the fire department out in the past to put out the fire. I met Joe Schnieder and Dave Dingey out at the Maple Grove Campground G in Bristol Twp and found a plugged well which was identified as #22821. Upon inspection, I found 7 casing buried underneath about 1 of soil. The casing had no plate but there was cement at the top and there was a smell of gas. Picutres were taken at the time of inspection. I will refer the well to the I & O inspector.
1430146010 2015-04-24 Orphan No Violations My inspection today is due to a complaint filed by an AEP worker and Joe Snider of Artex, and taken by Jake Glascock, Morgan County DOGRM inspector. The complaint was of a leaking plugged well in AEPs Maple Grove Campground. An 8 5/8 ID casing was exposed after digging under the surface and a natural gas odor could be detected 25 from the well. Available records show that this well was drilled to a depth of 5301 in the Clinton Ss. by CGAS in 1985. This well was plugged with cement in 1986. The well lies situated approximately 6 from a 5 diameter tree which will have to be removed prior to re-plugging. There is a good path to the well from the campground. The nearest camp site is about 125 away. AEP stated that over the past several years, the local fire department was called out to this site several times due to someone lighting the well on fire. Pictures taken, SEM is 180, as screened by J. Glascock.
1443722166 2015-10-01 Orphan No Violations My inspection today was to confirm the size of the casing in the ground and to get coordinates for the entrance to the access road. The pipe measures 9.25 OD and after scratching at the surface, again found a natural gas smell coming from the hole. The well is located 5 from a medium sized tree.
1475848839 2016-09-28 Orphan No Violations I accompanied Inspector Cindy VanDyke and Geologist Jake Glascock for a status inspection of this orphan well. Water wells in the area were inventoried and updated pictures were taken of the well location.
1526919974 2019-02-06 Orphan No Violations I met with Joe Schneider from Artex so he could show me where the well was. I had tried to find it another time but was unable to. This well is in the idle and orphan system because it is leaking natural gas at the surface. Someone has recently marked the well using pink ribbons. I spoke with the people camping in the area and they said a state truck was here over the Summer and marked the well.
1737248734 2015-11-23 Final Restoration No Violations This well is showing final restoration in our system. I went out to do a field inspection on this location. During the inspection I did not find any well or any production equipment left behind. There are no violations at this time.
1906024347 2016-09-28 Orphan No Violations Today I again checked the well to determine if the natural gas it was emitting was measurable. I found LEL of 14 and CH 4 of .30 using my Sperian gas detector. I found they are no longer mowing the path to the well. I found water well #352650 to have a hand pump on it but it was locked. The caretaker of the park said it had been shut down for 3 years due to a test that showed the well had bacteria in it. There are 2 poles with security lamps on them which is the only electric in the park.
