1457527133 2016-03-02 Orphan No Violations Inspect and update orphan well file at the request of Orphan Well Program Administrator Michele Miller. Well has 6 inside diameter casing exposed approximately 8 from the ground level. Well was covered with a white 5 gallon plastic bucket. When I removed the bucket there was a hydrogen sulfide (H2S) odor and you could see the well was intermittently bubbling gas. I checked the top of the casing with a sperian type gas meter. The initial reading was 10 ppm lower explosive limit (LEL) and 6 ppm hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas. The LEL dropped off to zero and the H2S dropped and stayed at 5ppm. You could see the fluid level at approximately 1 below grade. The fluid was a heavy crude oil and I did not run the depth reel counter. No other casing was found on the outside of the 6. I took 36 photos and additional GPS readings. I talked to the current property owner Joe Simmons and left him a new right of entry form to complete. Mr. Simmons did not know that this well was being considered for the orphan well program. He wants to contact a couple of local contractors and ask if this well would be viable for production.
