0482793431 2016-06-14 Administrative Inspection No Violations Visited location on 06/14/2016 with Norburt Lowder to review the previous weeks incident. Gas service has been restored to the residence, and the line from the well to the house has been severed and capped at the wellhead. The landowner was instructed to excavate further around the wellhead in order to allow him to determine the casing sizes present. Will request that orphan well paperwork be sent to the landowner.
2109414672 2016-06-09 Administrative Inspection No Violations Responded to gas leak issue at 2439 Grafton Rd., Grafton OH on 06/09/2016 at the request of Don Weaver with Columbia Gas. Gas had been detected near the Columbia gas meter at the residence during routine leak detection inspections. The gas was determined not to be related to Columbia after all lines related to Columbia gas residential service were tested and passed. The well is located ~50 away from the house, and a line from the well to the house was damaged at the connection to the house, and while the valve was shut-off at the house, it was not shut-off at the well. After shutting the well in at the wellhead, gas readings near the meter began to diminish. No gas was detected within the residence, but Columbia Gas shut-off service to the home until the line from the well to the house has been severed and capped at the wellhead. This is anticipated to be completed this evening, with service to be restored shortly thereafter. The occupants were unsure as to whose property the well is actually on, but once that is determined, orphan well paperwork will be sent to the landowners for completion, with the goal being to have the well entered into the orphan well program. Will continue to monitor the situation.
