| 1346941784 | 2012-09-05 | Production Wells | No Violations | I observed the existing tank battery (TB) to consist of the following: 1, 210 barrel (BBL) production tank, 2, in-ground rectangular concrete oil/water separators, and a mechanical separator unit. The TB is enclosed within an earthen dike. The perimeter portions of the dike appear to be adequate; however, there is significant growth of foliage within the dike. The TB is enclosed within a chain link-style fence, which is approximately 6-feet high. The fence gate is not locked. The load out valve is not locked. The oil/water separators appear to be full of oily water and/or sludge. The wellhead is located 200 feet west of the TB. The wellhead includes a mechanical pump jack system. The wellhead is overgrown extensively with phragmites and other weeds. The wellhead is shut-in and not producing. The entire system appears to be in a state of disrepair. There are no markings or other identifications on the TB or wellhead. I contacted Dave Harker and he indicated that there are plans to plug and abandon this well. |

At the time of this inspection, the well remains idle. The area around the well has become enveloped with tall grasses and other vegetation with no signs of any type of on-going maintenance. In addition, the was no identifying signage anywhere at the well. Dave Harker has pledged to continue making progress on plugging idle wells, and to place signage at the well. |

At the time of this inspection, the well was located in clearing within an otherwise wooded parcel. Access to the well is via an unpaved road which was overgrown. The wellhead was surrounded by dense, tall, grassy vegetation. The wellhead was comprised of 8.625-inch surface casing and 4.5-inch casing with valve tree with stuffing box and sucker rods. There was no other production appurtenances or equipment, no active low-line or sales line connections , and no tank battery. I contacted Dave Harker with Excalibur Exploration, Inc. (Excalibur) to inquire about the future plans for the well. Dave indicated that Excalibur is working to plug idle wells in an incremental fashion, and this well is slated to be plugged, or otherwise sold to the landowner, as funds permit. |
