Sawdust has been placed on the oil soaked soil that was stockpiled on 4.12.18. The sawdust was mixed with oil soaked soil to ensure all the oil stayed in suspension. The area of the spill that was in the woods has been cleaned of all oil. Seed and straw have been applied to this area. This part of the cleanup was finished by 10:30 AM. The first load of contaminated soil was taken to the Athens Hocking landfill at 10:45 AM. The remainder of the contaminated soil has been removed, the dike has been rebuilt and the plastic brine tank that was outside containment is now inside containment.

The well head has leaked oil into a pit that is in front of the well. The pit has water and a sheen of oil in the pit. I spoke with well owner John Murphy and told John he would be required to remove the oil and any soil that had been contaminated with oil. Pictures were taken.

1369271369 2018-04-24 Production Wells Violations Noted I received a call from well owner Mr. John Murphy at 0834 hours this day. Mr. Murphy owns Murphy Oil Company INC. Mr. Murphy said the 100 barrel oil tank had ran over and exited the containment area. I arrived at 0915 hours and found the oil had ran down slope for approximately 320 feet. The average width of the spill was 11 feet. I met Mr. Murphy on site along with a contractor to come up with a plan to remove all the contaminated soil. Mr. Murphy agreed to remove the 100 barrel tank from the dike so the contaminated soil below the tank could be removed. The remainder of the contaminated soil will be excavated and all of the contaminated soil will be taken to the Athens Hocking landfill.
