1401744975 2014-06-02 Orphan No Violations On the day of my inspection I received a complaint call from David McDowell concerning two orphan wells on his property that he would like to get plugged. He stated that when the Leatherwood creek floods that the wells fill up with flood water and oil gets in his field. Upon arrival I met with Mr. McDowell and we went to the well and I found it was not capable of production and equipped with 6.625 inch casing, 2 inch tubing and a 1 inch gas packer. The well head was open with no signs of contamination at the time of inspection No production equipment was found. No identification was present and there are no current production records. Complaint ID 4724.
1405969068 2014-07-18 Orphan No Violations I met with the landowner, Mr. McDowell, today during a follow-up to DOGRM Inspector Doug Bennetts initial inspection. The well is idle and has never produced since the landowner bought the property in 1980. The well has 12 diameter conductor casing, 7 OD casing with a 2 port wellhead (both ports open), 2 3/8 diameter tubing and 1 diameter tubing on a gas escape packer. Mr. McDowell stated that the area around the well floods during heavy rain events and he has seen the farmground surrounding the well covered with oil during these events. Leatherwood Creek is located approximately 300 to the south of the well. There is an old railroad bed that lies between the creek and the well which acts as a dike, but there are drainage ditches on 2 sides of the well that cause the land to flood. There is a medium sized tree next to the well that will need to be removed in order for plugging equipment to access the well. The landowner stated that he will reclaim the crop ground after the DOGRM contractor has rough graded the disturbed areas after plugging. SEM is 193, pictures taken.
1407439365 2014-07-18 Orphan No Violations My inspection this day a follow-up to the inspection by DOGRM Inspector Doug Bennett to gather information to enter the well in the Orphan Well Program. The well consists of 7 OD casing with 2 3/8 tubing on a clamp with 1 tubing on a gas escape packer. The well head has 2 ports that are open. The pumping unit has been removed but Mr. McDowell, the landowner who filed the complaint, says that this well and #20503 were both pumped from a central power unit with scissor jacks. The well sits within 1 of a medium sized tree that can be cut down to plug the well. Mr. McDowell says the well leaks oil onto the ground when heavy rains flood the area surrounding the well. He has owned the property since 1980 and no one has ever produced the wells. Records show the well drilled in 1951 to the Berea Ss. at a total depth of 1302. Pictures taken, SEM is 193.
1761442754 2018-02-15 Production Wells No Violations On the day of my inspection I following up on request from Eclipse Resources to inspect the well, I found the well equipped with 6.625 inch diameter casing, 2 inch diameter tubing, rods and a 1 inch gas packer. No identification was present and there are no current production records. The well was referred to the Idle & Orphan program on 6/2/14 for review.
