0148544832 2017-09-06 Production Wells Violations Noted On the day of my inspection I found that there were still rods and tubing in the well and an abandoned electric box, where the well was likely equipped with an electric pumping unit at one time. The electric line was laying down next to the ground on the way back to the well site. The old access road was completely overgrown with thick vegetation. I tried to get up next to the wellhead for updated GPS coordinates, but the vegetation was too thick to move through. I found no production equipment for the well. The annual production reports are up to date, but there has been (0) zero barrels of oil and (0) zero cubic feet of gas reported since 2007. This well is idle and incapable of production in its current state. The well owner/operator shall submit a written plugging schedule to Chris Grimm at 5880 Memory Rd, Zanesville, OH 43701 within 30 days, per OAC 1501:9-11-05(B), and plug the well within 180 days. The well owner/operator will be notified if the plugging schedule is approved or denied.
1253582360 2019-01-17 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny washed another 2.5 tons of clay down the well, filling it to surface again. The clay was receding very slowly, so Gene dumped the remainder of the clay load next to the wellhead to be topped off as needed. I called Shawn Baldrich with Maram to request that the pit be drained as soon as possible. He did not answer so I left a message.
1274448746 2018-05-29 Production Wells No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that no work had been done to make the well accessible. The access road and well site were overgrown with thick vegetation. No plugging permit has been issued for this well. I called Mark Ramser with Maram Energy to ask what they were doing with the well. Mark said that they decided not to frac the well and they were going to plug it. Mark claimed that he would get the application submitted for a permit, but he said that they had a couple other wells to get to before they could start on this one. I asked for a proposed date and he would only tell me that it would be done by the end of the year.
1324428847 2017-12-19 Production Wells No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that no access had been cleared back to the well and the electric line was still hanging at ground level. I had received a phone call from Sean Baldrich with Maram Energy on November 8 to give me verbal notification f their intent to frac the well and try to put it in production. Sean claimed that they would be out within the next month. I have tried to call Sean but I get no answer or call back. I called Marams office and left a message for the company owner Mark Ramser to call me back. Mark returned my call and said that he did not plan to frac the well during the winter. He wanted to wait until the weather and ground condidtions were more favorable for moving equipment into the well site.
1537276278 2018-09-18 Production Wells No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that no access had been cleared back to the wellhead. The well site and old access road were overgrown with thick vegetation. There were no signs that any equipment had been into the site to service the well, or to prepare the site for plugging. A permit to plug the well was issued on 6/21/18, but I have not received any communication from Maram Energy in regards to a move in date. I called Shawn Baldrich with Maram to ask what their plans were for getting the well plugged. He claimed that they still planned to move in this year. Shawn said that they had a job to finish and one other well to plug, and then they would be moving in on this one. He said that he would keep me updated.
1546530052 2019-01-03 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that Gene Matheny was moved in and rigged up to plug the well. He already had the rods out and he was starting on the tubing. Gene said that he had 8.5 tons of clay loaded in his dump truck from Belden Brick. By the time Gene got the tubing out of the well and all of his materials and equipment moved into the site, it was late and he decided to wait until tomorrow to start running clay.
1546629192 2019-01-04 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny washed 3 tons of clay down the 5.5 inch diameter casing to start the bottom plug. Then they went in to rip the casing. Gene found a telegraph at a depth of 2422 feet and worked to part the casing there. Gene tried to part the casing for the rest of the day, but could not get it free. He pulled his tools back out to check and clean the knife. It was late in the day and he decided to shut down for the weekend.
1546965972 2019-01-07 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny spent the whole day trying to part the 5.5 inch diameter casing at 2422 feet. He came up one joint to approximately 2400 feet and tried briefly before resorting to shooting the casing.
1547062853 2019-01-09 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny pulled the rest of the 5.5 inch casing out of the well. He ran a pre-cast cement plug to the top of the 5.5 inch casing at 1042 feet. Then they washed another ton of clay on top of the plug. The well filled up with fluid when they were washing clay in. Gene ran 20 feet of plastic line down the well and circulated oil into the pit. He decided to shut down for the day to let the rest of the oil rise to the surface so they could circulate the rest out tomorrow.
1547148928 2019-01-10 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny circulated the rest of the oil out of the surface casing. They welded a sub to the surface casing and tried to pull. Gene pulled over 90,000 pounds and the casing was not budging. He went in with his ripping tools to find a telegraph, and found one at 337 feet. Gene worked to rip the surface casing there for the rest of the day.
1547477944 2019-01-11 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny pulled the 337 feet of 8.625 inch diameter casing out of the well and washed another 1.5 tons of clay down the well. He shut down plugging operations for the day to get his rig pulled out of the location, and because they were out of clay.
1547733971 2019-01-15 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Gene Matheny washed approximately 4 tons of clay down the well. The well bore would fill to surface and Gene would let it settle and add more over the course of three hours. They filled it to surface one last time and shut down for the day.
1547824293 2019-01-18 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that the clay column had only fallen a few inches over night. This well has been plugged to surface and the compliance notice is resolved. The pit had not been drained yet. The fluid level was not in danger of breeching the pit wall, but the site is located near a hillside which leads down to a stream. The pit needs to be closed right away. I called Mark Ramser with Maram Energy to express my concerns with the pit. He said that he would get ahold of someone to get out to t he location and drain the pit. I returned to the site later in the day and found that the pit had been drained and closed. The well was still open and the clay still had not dropped any further down the hole.

1671417565 2018-10-24 Production Wells No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that nothing had been done to even clear access to the wellhead. I have not had any communication from Maram Energy as to when they plan to plug the well. I called Mark Ramser and Sean Baldrich and neither one answered their phones. I left voice messages for both. Mark called me back the next day and said that they were planning to move in when they were done with their injection well in Morrow County. He estimated that it would be one month before they could move in to plug the well.
2090447941 2019-01-08 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection Appalachian Well Surveys shot the 5.5 inch casing off at a depth of 2358 feet. Matheny still could not get the casing to come free. We suspected that the casing was hung around the old 7 inch seat, so Appalachian shot the casing off a second time at a depth of 1042 feet. Matheny left the casing in place and washed 3 more tons of clay down the hole. The casing was starting to fill up with water so he shut down for an hour to let it settle. They came back and decided to pull a few joints before running any more clay. The pipe was dragging hard and it started to bring oil up the annulus when Gene was pulling. They shut down again to push a dike around the wellhead and wait for Maram to bring a mini-hoe to dig a pit. Maram also brought BioSorb and spread it over the oil that was on the ground. They dug and lined a small pit. Gene pulled 7 joints and a storm blew in, so they shut down for the day.
