0076683962 2018-03-08 Production Wells No Violations I conducted a compliance notice follow-up inspection for compliance notice 1439739134. The well was equipped with a pumpjack and the annulus and flow line valves were open. The area around the well still had not been completely cleaned up from the previous leak. The tank battery consisted of one 100 BBL production tank and a mechanical separator. Valves on the separator were open. The 100 BBL tank still had old oil staining on the side. The tank battery was diked and had legible signage.

0663868047 2015-08-19 Production Wells No Violations I arrived on location at 10:30 am to observe continuing oil spill clean-up and remediation. During my inspection, I found Big Sky has not removed the oil impacted soil and weeds from inside the diked tank battery. There is a 10 x 6 trench between the 100 barrel tank and separator with small pools of oil and five (5) absorbent pads. A unopened 3.8 cubic foot bag of peat moss has been placed inside the tank battery. There is oil residue on the east side of the tank and dump line. Upon further inspection, I found oil impacted soil at the well in an area 15 x 10. The wellhead is coated with oil and paraffin. I called and left a message with Bob Barr Sr. to return my phone call. Photos were taken and are available upon request.
1121194709 2005-04-14 Production Wells No Violations Met with Karen Adair [ preserve manager ] for Nature Conservancy . Inspection showed a small amount oil around wellhead . I contacted company and advised them to remove oil . 5-5-05 , follow-up , oil has been removed .
1142395884 2015-08-25 Production Wells No Violations I was on site to conduct a follow-up inspection on this well. Cleanup around the wellhead had not been completed and the contaminated soil still needed to be removed and the wellhead leak repaired. Cleanup within the tank battery had been conducted. Saturated soil had been removed and any free product had also been removed. The production tank should be wiped down and cleaned as well as remediating the wellhead issues before compliance can be reached.
1230111670 2016-08-26 Production Wells No Violations I was on location to check the status of the production tanks fluid level. Previous inspections of the tanks fluid level on 08/17/2016 and 06/28/2016 reveled that the tank had over eight feet of fluid in it. The tank at the time of this inspection was empty. Chart in the chart box has not been changed in some time, chart was illegible. Valves on the separator were open. The bottom of the tank battery is stained from the crude oil release that occurred 08/15/2015. No live oil was noted during inspection.
1244060792 2016-06-28 Production Wells No Violations On location to check the status of production at the well. The tank battery was over grown. The 100 barrel production tank had approximately eight feet of fluid in it. The floor of the tank battery around the production tank is stained with crude oil from the release in 2015. The access road is over grown.
1311978059 2015-08-20 Production Wells No Violations I arrived on location at 1:30 pm to observe continuing oil spill clean-up and remediation. Upon arrival, I found Bob Barr, Sr. on location remediating the tank battery. Mr. Barr was removing the impacted soil and weeds from around the production tank and the oil from the trench between the tank and separator. I told Mr. Barr to remove all of the impacted soil at the wellhead. Follow-up inspections will continue.
1439739134 2015-08-16 Production Wells Violations Noted I am on location with the owner of Big Sky Energy, Bob Barr Sr. to observe the clean up of the tank battery from the 100 BBL production tank over flowing the day before. Mr. Barr is in the process of removing the excess oil that is inside the tank battery. The amount of oil inside the tank battery is 2 barrels. He was unable to line up a vac truck and steamer to perform the clean up of the tank and inside the tank battery for today. I advised him to have them out as soon as possible to perform the cleaning of the tank and the vegetation inside the tank battery. He is in the process of cleaning the oil up inside the tank battery by hand. After he gets as much removed as possible from the tank battery by hand, he will remove the oil saturated soil from around the wellhead. He is to clear the vegetation out from inside the tank battery as well. Myself or another inspector will stop back on 8/17/15 to make sure the work is being performed.

1638668701 2015-08-15 Production Wells No Violations I was contacted by Trumbull zoning that the production tank had been overflowed and the fire department had shut the well in. I contacted the operator Bob Barr and requested that he send staff out to confirm that the well was shut in and the oil spill was stabilized and clean-up. No one was on location when I arrived. I called Bryon well tender for Big Sky Energy, he stated he was just there. I requested he return to location. Operator overflowed the tank approximately one barrel of crude oil was spilled and contained within the tank battery. Bryon stated the well had been shut in for a year. The well was turned on Thursday 08/13/2015 and had made 3.5 feet since then. I asked if anyone had checked on the well since turning it on, No. I informed Bryon that I had a bail of peat moss with me if he wanted to use it. He stated Bob Barr would be on location in the morning to recover the oil. Oil was stable and not moving, dike bottom was constructed out of hard clay, it was allowed that the operator have the chance to recover the oil. Peat-sorb was spread at the edges of the spill to prevent further movement. Further investigation of the battery revealed a line leak under ground in south east corner of the battery. It appeared that the sales line was backing feeding to the check valve and the line was leaking underground. Bubbling and gas odder was evident. Bryan was advised to find the source of the gas and shut it off. Wellhead was investigated and found to be leaking at the stuffing box. Well is equipped with a pump jack. There was oil soaked peat moss in front of the wellhead in area 10 X 15. Well was shut in. Operator shall complete the following: 1. Remove all oil from the tank battery floor. 2. Clean production tank 3. Repair leaking sales line 4. Repair leaking wellhead 5. Clean-up all oil soaked soil around the wellhead.
