0522073595 2014-04-08 Production Wells No Violations The oil has been cleaned from the pit behind the tank battery. The drain from the pit is blocked. The landowner and operator of the wells is working with another driller to get a vaccuum truck to remove the water from the pit. The landowner is going to rework the tank battery when MFC Drilling drills the trempealeau well on his property. Contact Jim Smith, 419-685-0749.
0718593088 2014-04-02 Production Wells Violations Noted Inspection made with Tom Benko, ODNR. The well is equipped with a pump jack, rods and tubing and is in production. The tank battery is not capable of preventing the escape of brine and oil. There is a drain tile inside the dike area that drains to a pit behind the tank battery. The pit has oil floating on top of brine water. The pit is equipped with a 2 inch flexible plastic pipe that drains to a ditch. The water in the ditch below the drain from the pit was tested with a Quantab chloride test strip. The low range strip indicated to the maximum end of the range for chloride. No flow during the inspection from the pit; a 12 inch field drain tile also discharges into the ditch, the water below the tile indicated a 1 on a low range Quantab chloride strip. A compliance notice is being issued for failure to contain brine and oil waste. Clean oil from the water surface in the pit, remove the water from the pit and close the pit behind the tanks. Close the drain inside the tank battery dike to prevent fluid from escaping the dike area. Brine needs to be hauled by a registered hauler for disposal. Complete this work by 4/10/14. The tank battery needs to be repaired. Tanks need to be spaced 3 ft apart. The leaking tank needs to be removed or repaired. Complete this by 6/30/14.
1405346812 2014-07-02 Production Wells No Violations Met with Jim Smith at the farm to determine what the status of the tank battery repairs is. He has not replaced the leaky tanks yet. The tanks have been pumped out. Water needs to be hauled from the pit behind the dike area. The previous plan to use another driller to haul water has not materialized as they have not drilled the lease to date. Mr. Smith stated that he would be attempting to purchase tanks in the coming week. He stated that he would get a water truck to dewater the pit and then he would be rebuilding the tank battery. The violation is extended until 10/1/14.
1480840114 2014-08-13 Production Wells No Violations The operator has removed 2 tanks from the tank battery and closed up the pit he had at the tank location. There is a new containment area for tanks. Work is to be completed by Oct 1, 2014.
1679208476 2017-02-14 Production Wells No Violations The well is equipped with a pump jack, rods and tubing and is in production. ID is posted at the tanks. There are 4-100 barrel tanks in the tank battery.
1775072956 2015-02-03 Production Wells No Violations I met with the landowner at the farm house and he accompanied the inspector to the tank battery. The tank battery has been rebuilt. Two new tanks were added and the defective tanks were removed. S&H Water Hauling has been hired by the operator to remove production brine. The tank battery is in compliance. The compliance notice is terminated.
