1250253521 2009-08-10 I received a call from Rusty with Atlas reporting a lightning strike at the Leifheit/Fasig tank battery. The 100 bbl stock tank was hit at approximately 05:00 pm during a thunderstorm event. The tank contained approximately 36 bbl of oil/brine. The tank was lifted out of the tank battery and onto the adjoining lease road. A portion of the contained oil ran down the lease road (west) and entered an ephemeral stream bed/drainage ditch. Atlas' initial response was to recover free oil in the tank and in the tank battery and to set a containment siphon dam in the stream bed. Approximately 30 bbl of oil was recovered during this initial response. When I arrived on site, Kurt Kollar (OEPA-DERR), Larry Barnett (excavator), and six Atlas personnel were on site. Initial containment and recovery were successful and will continue tomorrow with the removal of impacted soil and free product recovery. 9-1-07
