| 1833679 | 2009-10-01 | Viol(s) Noted & Immediately Corrected | My inspection revealed that an un-permitted discharge of 35%acid occurred on location. This is a violation of Section 78.56 (a) of the Department¿ regulations, 25 Pa. Code §78.56(a), which provides:
¿Except as provided in §§ 78.60(b) ad 78.61(b) (relating to discharge requirements; and disposal of drill cuttings), the operator shall contain pollutional substances and wastes from the drilling, altering, completing, recompleting, servicing and plugging the well, including brines, drill cuttings, drilling muds, oils, stimulation fluids, well treatment and servicing fluids, plugging and drilling fluids other than gases in a pit, tank or series of pits and tanks.¿ Based on my inspection, the spilled acid was sufficiently cleaned up. There was no evidence of any residual acid in the area where the spill reportedly occurred. The spill was immediately addressed and the violation was immediately corrected. Preventative measures were installed to prevent future similar spills. See inspection report for more details. |
