-1881198602 2004-05-21 The spill remediation is nearly complete. Additional restoration where the flowline was replaced is necessary and the drain tile outfall still needs to be monitored and oil/parafin removed as it accumulates. 9-1-07
-652310433 2004-05-11 Small amounts of oil and parafin are still being discharge from the drain tile but contained by the underflow dams. The site still needs regular product recovery. 9-1-07
1081473076 2004-03-31 I received a call from Kurt Kollar with OEPA reporting an oil release into Kale Creek in Palmyra Township. The release was discovered by Portage Soil & Water Conservation on March 30 who in turn notified OEPA. The oil came from a six inch drain tile which discharges into the creek. The spill was estimated to be 2 bbl. The two production wells on the property adjoining the north side of the creek are owned and operated by Resource America. The initial response, directed by OEPA included setting up wiers and booms between the tile discharge point and the main channel of Kale Creek. Subsequent actions will attempt to locate the source. 9-1-07
1082549618 2004-04-12 Flowline leak follow-up. The flowline and the drain tile have been replaced. The containment wiers and boom will stay in place since oil is probably still trapped in sections of the drain tile. The wiers and booms will be checked regularly. 9-1-07
1085445245 2004-05-04 The flowline replacement still needs finish grading and the drain tile discharge still needs to be monitored. 9-1-07
1273890372 2004-04-19 The leak has been corrected. The drain outlet is still collecting some free oil and is being monitored. The spill should be remediated by the middle of May. 9-1-07
1522227493 2004-04-01 The spill source has been identified as the flowline from the Dearth #1 well where it crosses under the field tile near the Dearth tank battery. Both the tile and the flowline will be removed and replaced. The containment system near the creek will remain in place since some product may still be trapped in the tile. 9-1-07
336025194 2004-06-30 The spill has been remediated and the violation corrected. 9-1-07
