The release was discovered by Portage Soil & Water Conservation on March 30 who in turn notified OEPA. The oil came from a six inch drain tile which discharges into the creek. The spill was estimated to be 2 bbl. The two production wells on the property adjoining the north side of the creek are owned and operated by Resource America. The initial response, directed by OEPA included setting up wiers and booms between the tile discharge point and the main channel of Kale Creek.
