With the advent of spring breakup, the roads have become significantly softer and more rutted. The Department has previously worked with the operator to proactively address whatever issues come up, with mixed results. These locations were constructed in the fall of this past year and have not yet been restored, so the potential for erosion to occur is high. Given the ongoing work scheduled in the future, it was stressed to the operator that any erosion or sedimentation concerns need to be fixed as they occur, not put off until weather is more convenient to work in. Any interim measures that were discussed, including filter sock or other barriers that are necessary to prevent sediment discharge will be prepared for and steps taken prior to permanent measures being placed in.
